A Day for Sports?

Inundated with phone calls on the morning of our sports day regarding concerns about the weather, we decided to go ahead with sport, unconcerned by hail, wind and rain!  After a slightly wet start, we were, in fact, very lucky and at one point the sun was shining!  Great fun was had by all in both track and field events.  The upper school showed off their high jumping and team relay skills on the all-weather pitch while the lower school completed running, hurdling and skipping skills obstacle races, before swapping locations.  When racing was complete, we held the Great Sports Day Balloon Race which was held in support of the Rotary Club children's charities.  The weather surely assisted our balloons as the wind took them at great pace up into the menacing skies; we hope our winning balloons will have travelled much further this year.

Following this excitement, we were thrilled to have our skipping team perform their much talked about routine to the music recorded at our 'Carmina Burana' performance a few weeks ago.  The skipping display, as well as money collected for the much needed warming cups of tea and strawberry scones, kindly prepared by Mrs. Sanders, was held in support of the British Heart Foundation.  Thank you all for your generous support.  We hope you enjoy some of the pictures of this special event below.  Well done to Raleigh House, the eventual team winners.
