Election Fever

The excitement of the hustings came to Fairholme rather unexpectedly this year as we held our own Elections on General Election Day.  Sixteen parties fought fiercely to persuade the electorate (Kindergarten upwards!) that they had the best policies.  No talk of Brexit here – policies included evacuating Earth for a new cleaner world, saving penguins and the icecaps and underground water-slide plans for access to Barbados!  When the votes were counted, ‘Powerful Politicians’ were declared the winners closely pursued by ‘Great British Politicians’ and ‘Superpugs’.  Well done everyone for taking part; some excellent ideas and great confidence shown in speeches and answering questions!

In assemblies, we also followed the progress of the real Election both locally and nationally and discovered names of parties, party leaders and some of the slogans adopted in this year’s election campaign.
